What is Green Game Jam?

The Green Game Jam is an annual initiative organized by the Playing for the Planet Alliance, where game studios integrate environmentally themed content into their games to raise awareness and inspire action. Each year, developers create “green activations”, including in-game events, new storylines, or themed challenges, that encourage players to engage with environmental issues like wildlife conservation, climate change, and reforestation. Since its inception, the Green Game Jam has reached millions of players worldwide, raised millions of dollars for conservation efforts, and helped plant millions of trees through gaming-driven initiatives.

Protecting the Peruvian Amazon: Rovio’s Contribution

For Green Game Jam 2025, Rovio is making a significant real-world impact by supporting Asociación ProPurús in the Peruvian Amazon through partner Dots.eco. In fact, more than 150,000 ft² of wildlife habitat is being protected in Peru thanks to Rovio’s contribution! ProPurús is actively working on the ground in key biodiversity areas, focusing on urgent efforts like habitat conservation, securing Indigenous land rights, and promoting sustainable resource use to combat threats such as deforestation and illegal resource extraction. Dots.eco facilitates this by linking real-world conservation actions to digital engagement, channeling funding to high-impact projects. Through this collaboration, Rovio directly supports one of the world’s most important ecosystems.

Show your support and play your part!

Wondering how you can participate in Green Game Jam? Now comes your part! The Playing for the Planet Alliance is inviting players of participating games to sign a pledge to show their commitment to conservation and their love of nature. By banding together, we can prove to ourselves, and policy makers, that protecting our planet is a big issue for the gaming community. Players can sign the pledge anonymously, without sharing any personal data.
