Whatever it is, Angry Birds 2 has got you covered with fresh football and/or soccer events full of new challenges, rewards, hats, and even a special collaboration between Red the Angry Bird and a fellow bird who is angry, the extra spicy mascot of Brazil’s national football (or possibly soccer) team, Canarinho.
The Season of Football (potentially soccer) begins today in Angry Birds 2 with The Great Debate, a poll in which players around the world can weigh in on a disagreement that envelops the globe: which is the correct name – soccer or football? Teaming up with Red to settle the score is hot-headed Brazilian mascot, Canarinho. If anyone can work through an argument in a sensible way, it’s these two.
The setup is simple, Red and Canarinho invite all Angry Birds 2 players to cast their vote, joining either #TeamSoccer or #TeamFootball. The votes will be tallied and the winner will be announced on June 10, settling the score once and for all. But we’re not doing this just for fun. No! The winning team will also take home a sweet bundle of in-game goodies to give them an edge in the Season of Football (or as the case may be, soccer). Score!

The second half of the Season of Football (or also conceivably, soccer) introduces a bevy of additional football (or, also within the realm of possibility, soccer) themed challenges and reward claiming opportunities, including a chance to pop piggies in Angry Birds 2 while repping your country in real life. Additionally, watch out for an in-game cameo from Canarinho in the form of a special limited time spell to help you kick those piggies to the curb.
Angry Birds 2 is also adding another exciting real-world twist to all of the in-game happenings. Starting on June 11, any time a player earns a red card in a football (or as some say, soccer) match in the real world, players in Angry Birds 2 will receive Red Feathers that they can use to boost Red’s abilities in the game. Time to put some of that anger to good use!
