Rovio Toronto is a human-scale studio of passionate gamers with a track record of building fresh, fun games with iconic brands. Our focus is mobile, with ambitions to grow beyond as new opportunities arise. Being small keeps us agile and gives everyone meaningful ownership. We value transparency and candour, empowering each other to do our best work, supported by a hybrid model and a strong sense of community.

We’re looking for a creative and versatile 2D Artist to join our vibrant Rovio Toronto team, creators of Angry Birds Bounce on Apple Arcade and an unannounced new project.

This role blends concept and production work: you’ll help design characters, props, and environments, while also creating polished in-game assets, UI elements, and marketing artwork. Beyond asset creation, you’ll play a key role in helping establish and refine the visual vision for the project, working with the Lead Artist and the rest of the team to ensure everything feels cohesive, on-brand, and engaging for players.

This is an open vacancy with a salary range of 70,000 - 90,000 CAD/year. At this stage, we are primarily focusing our search on candidates based in the local region.

Join us and help us build a culture of trust, passion, and innovation!

You will have impact and fun at work by:

  • Create concept art for characters, props, backgrounds, environments, and other game elements to support visual development
  • Produce polished 2D assets for use in-game, including UI elements, icons, and illustrations
  • Contribute to marketing and promotional artwork, ensuring consistency with the game’s brand and style
  • Work closely with the Lead Artist to maintain a unified visual direction and brand identity
  • Collaborate with artists, designers, and developers to provide references, paintovers, and asset support
  • Participate in reviews and incorporate feedback effectively

Experience and skills we are looking for:

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a 2D artist, ideally in the games industry
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating skills in concept art, illustration, and polished production assets
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate, or similar)
  • Ability to adapt to and work within an established brand/IP
  • Understanding of how 2D art supports the game production pipeline
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

It would be nice if you also have the following skills:

  • A passion for video game development
  • Has shipped one or more mobile games
  • Experience working across multiple artistic disciplines such as 3d Modeling, animation, VFX, graphic design or motion graphics
  • Experience with storyboarding, animatics, or pre-visualization
