More Games, More Impact: Rovio Joins Forces with SpecialEffect for One Special Day

We’ve all experienced it. The rush of launching a perfect Red, the satisfying pop of a pig structure collapsing, the joy of a high score. Games have a unique power to bring us together, to challenge us, and to simply make us smile. They are a universal language of fun and a source of connection for millions of people around the world. Everyone, regardless of their physical abilities, should have the opportunity to experience the joy of play. This is why we are incredibly proud to announce our participation in this year’s One Special Day. And this year, we’re doing more than ever before. For the first time, three of our beloved games – Angry Birds 2, Angry Birds Friends, and Angry Birds Dream Blast – are joining forces to support this incredible cause.

They create bespoke control setups for individuals with a wide range of physical challenges, from those with cerebral palsy to people recovering from a stroke or a brain injury. Their team of occupational therapists and technical experts meet with a person, understand their specific needs, and then design and build a custom gaming solution. SpecialEffect is also a force for good within the games industry itself, sharing its expertise with developers to make games more accessible for everyone. Their consultations and workshops have influenced major players in the industry, contributing to the creation of accessible hardware like the Xbox Adaptive Controller and the Sony Access Controller. It’s a holistic approach that seeks to make the world of gaming a more inclusive place for all.

On One Special Day, the gaming community unites to support SpecialEffect. It’s an annual event where studios, publishers, and players come together to make a difference. We’ve been a proud participant for many years, with Angry Birds 2 leading the charge. This year, we are thrilled to expand our support with Angry Birds Friends and Angry Birds Dream Blast joining the flock.
