Launched in 2020, the Angry Birds Topgolf game has been a smashing success, mixing golf with the destructive action of Angry Birds games.

In autumn 2020, the Angry Birds debuted in Topgolf venues in an interactive experience blending technology-driven golf entertainment with Angry Birds’ tower smashing, pig popping gameplay. Using Topgolf’s industry-leading Toptracer ball-tracing technology, and replacing the birds’ slingshot with golf clubs, Topgolf patrons were able to whack the Angry Birds characters into towers teeming with green pigs, and have their shots traced accurately onto an Angry Birds level.

The Angry Birds Topgolf game has been a big hit, becoming Topgolf’s second most played game mode after the classic ‘Topgolf’ game. Angry Birds at Topgolf is receiving some industry recognition as well. First in August 2021, the Angry Birds game at Topgolf was recognized as the Best Licensed Product in the category of digital apps, software and video games at the Licensing International Excellence awards. This award showcases the global licensing community’s best brands, properties, products, retailers, and activations, and recognizes licensing excellence worldwide.

Now, we’re happy to share that the Angry Birds x Topgolf collaboration has also won gold in the Best Brand Experience category in the North American Transform Awards 2021! Rovio’s Director of Brand Licensing, Katri Chacona had this to say about the Angry Birds at Topgolf game experience receiving this recognition. “We’re extremely honored for Angry Birds to have received the Best Licensed Product award at the Licensing International Awards, and for the game to win the Best Brand Experience category in the 2021 Transform Awards NA.
