Rovio’s Puzzle Studio has their sights set on becoming the most successful casual puzzle game studio in the world. We are looking for experienced and passionate Game Developers to join our successful Puzzle Studio in Espoo, Finland. Our vision is to build puzzle games that are easy and fun to play but also provide deep meta-game with social elements that keeps them fresh and interesting to play for years. Angry Birds Friends is one of the strongest games in Rovio's portfolio. Its user base growth and constant search for new features for a midcore audience, linked to a well known IP is supported by a tech that is in constant evolution or even, at times, revolution.
In this role you will work in a cross-functional team consisting of artists, designers, and other developers. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include prototyping and implementing game features (together with other developers in the team), collaborating with server developers for seamless backend integration as well as optimizing the games to run smoothly on mobile platforms.
Being a lead developer at Rovio entails that you will be driving technical decision-making in your project, as well as working with leveling up your own team. They will be turning to you for the technical direction of the project, as well as with day-to-day challenges. The team is located in Finland, and consists of you and 3 other developers. The plan for the team is to work in a hybrid-work model, meaning that they’ll be in the office approximately two days per week.
Who we think will do great in this role:
- Several years of commercial game programming
- Experience of a tech lead role in a game team
- Strong development experience with Unity
- Strong programming skills with C#
- Broad knowledge of game architecture and technologies
- Good understanding of mobile platforms and hardware
- Experience with F2P games both as a developer and a player
- Analytical problem solving skills
- Team leading skills
