Welcome to Rovio! We are looking for a Senior Server Engineer to join our newly-formed MMO Studio in London, UK. This is an extremely important role at the studio, working alongside the Technical Director to develop and deliver a MMO backend at huge scale. While we are more than happy to help diverse candidates make the step up, for this role we require a candidate with commercial experience of implementing, launching and running massively scalable, realtime, backend services. Game industry experience is definitely a plus, but it is not a requirement. Here in London we have a fantastic creative and commercial brief and the enthusiastic backing of one of the undisputed global leaders of mobile F2P gaming. For this role, you’ll need to be as comfortable working with early game ideas and turning them quickly to working prototypes as you are creating finished, polished code. You will be an active member of the team and the culture, helping where needed and while primarily comfortable with client side work with Unity tools, it would be great if you were able to contribute to server development. The studio is starting small, so while there won’t be demands to do a huge quantity of work (we really mean it on the work/life balance), we genuinely do want very high quality and you’ll need to be comfortable performing a broad variety of relevant tasks.
