As our fans have probably noticed, Rovio has been expanding very rapidly recently. Given all the new services we’ll be offering, we’ve had to make some changes to our privacy policy. We take all privacy concerns very seriously indeed and therefore wanted to be as upfront as possible about the changes.

This post is intended to be an overview with some examples. Make sure to check out the complete privacy policy in order to get the whole picture (http://www.rovio.com/index.php?page=privacy-policy).

The biggest change to our privacy policy concerns the collection of personal data. As we expand the services we offer, we will now occasionally need to collect and use some personal information that you have voluntarily provided us, simply in order to deliver services you’ve requested or improve the user experience.

This can happen in many situations – for example, registration for a contest, while using a social networking site with our game or app, requesting technical support, or purchasing a product through our stores. To be put on our newsletter list, we will need an email address. Processing a shop order requires a shipping address. And so on.

We are using your personal data only in accordance with our privacy policy. Please note that there may be occasions where we need to give information to our partners in order to fulfill your request. For example, when you are ordering through the store, a credit card processor may be used to verify your credit card number. When giving your personal data to third parties in situations like these, we make reasonable efforts to ensure that such third parties abide by our privacy policy and to use the personal data only in the way that we have agreed upon. Also, Rovio will not store your personal data for any longer than necessary, and will do its utmost to safeguard it.

Should you have questions, concerns or comments, please send them to legal@rovio.com. Unfortunately, we can’t promise an individual answer to every email we receive, but rest assured they are all read and duly noted. We take all your concerns very seriously.

Best,

The Rovio Team
