Records were made to be broken, or in some cases, smashed through at top speed after being launched from a slingshot. So it seems to be the case with India, where The Angry Birds Movie debuted this past weekend at No. 1 at the box office and enjoyed the biggest opening day for an animated movie ever in the country’s history. Thank you, India!
Over the weekend the film also flew to No. 1 in Poland, bringing the total number of markets where the film has reached the top spot to 50. The film also continues to hold strong in key international markets China, UK, Brazil and Germany. In the furious flock’s native Finland, the film has nested comfortably at No. 1 for three straight weeks.
Combined with a robust second weekend in the US, the film has now earned more than 220 million USD globally. The film lands in Portugal, Italy and Malaysia in June, and in Japan in October. Thank you and keep on slinging!
